Features: The purpose of writing this book is to provide a set of fresh and highly applicable public foreign language teaching materials for liberal arts majors in Chinese universities, or as a second foreign language textbook for foreign language colleges. In terms of grammar, sentence patterns, and exercise systems, it takes into account the needs of self-learners and the requirements of various exams. The book is divided into four volumes. One volume is studied per semester, with a schedule of 4-6 hours per week. The pronunciation part is generally completed in three weeks. To facilitate self-study and meet the requirements of various exams, we have also written two reference books: "University Japanese Learning Reference (Volumes 1-2)" and "University Japanese Learning Reference (Volumes 3-4)." All the texts in this book are selected from original Japanese works. The texts in Volumes 1 and 2 are based on the "Japanese Language Textbook" compiled by the Institute of Linguistics of Waseda University in Japan (Revised Edition). The texts in Volumes 3 and 4 are also taken from original Japanese works. According to the characteristics of liberal arts majors in Chinese universities and foreign language colleges, as well as the requirements of self-study exams and the Japanese Proficiency Test, we have written the text annotations, grammar explanations, sentence pattern descriptions, and exercise systems in an easy-to-understand manner. The first two volumes of this book are characterized by themes related to daily life, with the goal of mastering basic vocabulary and grammar. The texts are easy to read, use polite language, and are highly colloquial, making them convenient for learning, mastering, and applying. The third and fourth volumes are a continuation and deepening of the first two volumes. The third volume focuses on consolidating and expanding grammar, vocabulary, and sentence patterns, as well as improving reading comprehension skills, based on the first two volumes. The fourth volume focuses on cultivating comprehensive application skills and improving overall language proficiency. The third and fourth volumes can also be used as standalone reading materials. There are approximately 3,300 words in the texts of the entire book. Among them, the first two volumes contain about 1,400 words, and the third and fourth volumes contain about 1,900 words. Considering the actual situation of beginners, we have marked the pronunciation and tone marks with numbers after the words in the first two volumes. These are based on the annotations in the "New Meikai Japanese Dictionary" published by Seikyo-shoin in Japan, and can be used as a reference for beginners.
