Does pediatric concussion have sequelae?

Patient's question:

It's all because of my mother's negligence. Yesterday, because I needed to use the restroom, the little girl from the neighbor's house, who is very good friends with me, held me. As a result, I accidentally fell to the ground. I want to know if there are any long-term effects of a concussion on babies?

Doctor's answer:

Hello, in this case, most concussions will not leave any aftereffects. Only a small number of patients may experience persistent symptoms after a concussion, or develop headaches, dizziness, fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, sensitivity to sound and light, difficulty concentrating, memory loss, reduced intelligence, irritability, or depression after an asymptomatic period (1-3 months). However, most cases do not leave any aftereffects. Do not worry too much. In cases like this, if it is just a mild concussion and there are no other particularly abnormal symptoms, and if the baby is currently doing well, there are usually no aftereffects.
Neurological examinations typically reveal no positive findings, and there are usually no aftereffects. The primary approach is to get plenty of rest, replenish energy appropriately, and ensure adequate hydration while closely monitoring the situation.
