Features: This set of four books features 100 valuable, commonly used, and expressive Chinese idioms, proverbs, allusions, and anecdotes in each volume. Each entry includes an English definition, accompanied by a beautiful illustration, and additional English-Chinese annotations for difficult terms. This book is designed to help foreigners learn Chinese allusions, especially different styles of classical Chinese literature, in a bilingual format. One reason foreigners have limited understanding of Chinese is its complexity, particularly classical and vernacular Chinese. Many of the quoted phrases and allusions are still in use today, and misunderstanding them can lead to misinterpretations. I have occasionally read English translations of Chinese classical texts and regretfully found some incorrect translations, which were clearly due to misinterpretations of the original quoted phrases and allusions.
