Features: Chongqing, abbreviated as Yu, is the youngest municipal city directly under the Central Government of the People's Republic of China. It is located in southwestern China, on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, spanning from 105°11' to 110°11' east longitude and 28°10' to 32°13' north latitude. It covers an area of 82,000 square kilometers and borders Hubei, Hunan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and Shaanxi provinces. Chongqing's geographical features are characterized by numerous mountains and rivers. The mountains are rolling, and the rivers crisscross the region. The main stem of the Yangtze River flows from west to east across the entire area, with a course of 665 kilometers within Chongqing. Centered around the Yangtze River, it gathers over a hundred tributaries of various sizes. The terrain rises and falls along the rivers and mountains, forming a landscape with highlands in the north and south and a lowland in the middle, sloping downward toward the river valleys. This creates a topography dominated by mountains and hills. The geology is primarily karst, resulting in numerous karst caves, hot springs, canyons, and passes. This book aims to provide a comprehensive and accurate introduction to Chongqing tourism, covering sightseeing, travel, dining, accommodation, and shopping.
