"The Chronological Biography of Zhai Jizuo" is a chronological biography originally titled "The Chronological Biography of Mr. Zhai Dongshan," written by Shen Qi of the Qing Dynasty, with annotations by Zhang Tao and Zhai Guxuan. Zhai Jizuo was a renowned scholar of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. His original name was Zhai Jiyou, but due to an error in the examination papers, it was mistakenly written as Zhai Jizuo, and he kept the name. He styled himself "Youqi" and was also known as "Jiangxiuzi." When he entered the Qing Dynasty, he changed his name to Sheng and his courtesy name to Busheng.
"The Chronological Biography of Zhai Shenxing" is a one-volume work originally titled "The Chronological Biography of Mr. Zhai Tashan" (or "The Chronological Biography of Mr. Chuoxie"), written by Chen Jingzhang of the Qing Dynasty. Zhai Shenxing was a famous poet of the Qing Dynasty. His original name was Chu Siilian, courtesy name Xiazhong, and he changed his name to Shenxing in his early twenties, courtesy name Huixu, styled Tashan, and also styled as Zhai Tian. In his later years, he built the Chubai Pavilion to live in, and scholars sometimes referred to him as Chubai. He was from Haining, Zhejiang. The author, Mr. Zhai, died in the seventh year of the Kangxi reign (1650) and passed away in the twelfth year of the Yongzheng reign (1727), at the age of seventy-eight.
