Features: CET-6 Candidates Face Many Worries: When taking the CET-4, English classes were still held at school. Teachers scoured all corners for review materials, students practiced diligently, and teachers explained in detail. CET-6 Candidates Have Many Questions: What does the CET-6 exam cover? How difficult is it? What are the differences between CET-6 and CET-4? How should one prepare for CET-6? Is there an easy way to pass CET-6 based on CET-4 knowledge and experience? The purpose of writing this book is to eliminate these worries and resolve the doubts of CET-6 candidates, helping them make full use of their knowledge and experience from CET-4. By using comparative and contrastive methods, following the trajectory of the CET-4 exam, and climbing step by step, candidates can easily pass the CET-6 exam.
This book is divided into five main parts—Listening Comprehension, Reading and Short Answer, Vocabulary, Cloze and Error Correction, and Writing—based on the question types of the CET-6 exam. Each part includes three interrelated components:
1. From CET-4 to CET-6: This section analyzes in detail the similarities and differences between the same question types in CET-4 and CET-6 in terms of topics, genres, length, difficulty, question-setting methods, and content focus. Both the similarities and differences are clearly presented in tables to help candidates accurately grasp the differences between the two exams, accurately assess their own level, identify gaps, and plan their review accordingly.
2. Mastering CET-4 to Aim for CET-6: "Reviewing the old to learn the new." If candidates thoroughly understand the content of the CET-4 exam, they are very close to meeting the requirements of the CET-6 exam. Few candidates score above 90 on CET-4, and those who score above 80 are also rare. This indicates that even though candidates have passed CET-4, they still have a certain gap from the full-mark requirement of CET-4. However, this gap is still at the CET-4 level, which is not difficult for those who have passed CET-4. Therefore, to help CET-4-passed candidates improve their scores smoothly and effectively, this book carefully selects some CET-4 questions that reflect the goals of the CET-6 exam, controlling the difficulty slightly above that of CET-4, allowing candidates to improve steadily.
3. Climbing Up to Pass CET-6: With the foundation of CET-4 question training, candidates’ ability level has reached the halfway point between CET-4 and CET-6. At this stage, if a hand gently pulls them up, they can easily reach the CET-6 platform. In each part (or question type), the third chapter first includes some questions slightly below the CET-6 level (equivalent to CET-5) to smoothly connect with the second chapter, allowing candidates to adapt to the increased difficulty more easily. Then, standard CET-6 difficulty questions are selected for sufficient practice, ensuring candidates fully reach CET-6 level. From the second to the third chapter, the difficulty of questions gradually increases, climbing step by step. This provides candidates with excellent conditions to improve their practical skills steadily.
