Features: This book is a specialized monograph on the relationship between pathogenesis, treatment methods, and formulas, integrating theory, method, formula, and medicine into a unified whole. Since its first publication by our press, the book has gone through over 20 years and has a total print run of over 400,000 copies, (deeply favored by readers), becoming a reference book for generations of traditional Chinese medicine scholars. With the deepening of research, the author felt the need to explore pathogenesis and treatment methods, using established formulas as examples, and added discussions on the pathogenesis and treatment methods of the five senses and seven orifices, resulting in the 4th edition of "Traditional Chinese Medicine Treatment Methods and Formulas." This edition ensures that theory, method, formula, and medicine are seamlessly connected, forming a model of treating different diseases with the same method and integrating it with the differential diagnostic systems of various clinical disciplines. The book is divided into two parts. The upper part consists of three chapters, discussing the relevant knowledge of pathogenesis, treatment methods, and formulas, revealing their commonalities and internal connections. The lower part is organized around the five organs, forming two major systems, with each system presented as a chapter, plus discussions on diseases affecting two organs, totaling six chapters. Each chapter is further divided into sections based on physiological functions and their related structures. In the titles of these sections, pathogenesis and treatment methods are listed together to highlight the importance of pathogenesis. The formulas in the book are explained in accordance with the process of analyzing the evidence, establishing the theory, and formulating the formula, emphasizing the connection between theory, method, formula, and medicine. The book discusses 148 pathogeneses, 148 treatment methods, and 812 formulas, with numbers exceeding those in the 3rd edition, basically reflecting the general outline of pathogenesis, treatment methods, and formula usage when a single organ's physiological function is impaired. The book presents original arguments, is well-organized, detailed in theory and method, practical in formulas and medicine, and includes illustrative cases. If scholars can study it with dedication and deeply understand each aspect, achieving the ability to analyze the evidence based on theory, formulate methods based on theory, prescribe formulas according to methods, and select medicines based on symptoms, they can effectively handle complex conditions. The book is widely applicable to clinical practitioners, teachers, and students of traditional Chinese medicine at all levels.
