Features: To further improve the level of plastic surgery, promote the development of plastic surgery in China towards both popularization and advancement, and better benefit the people, based on extensive plastic surgery experience, accumulated rich clinical experience, and thousands of photo materials, we conceived the idea of compiling the "Color Atlas of Plastic Surgery." This idea was immediately supported by the two distinguished pioneers of plastic surgery in China, Professor Song Ruyao and Professor Kong Fanku, and responded and helped by many colleagues, adding courage and confidence to our compilation of this book. The book primarily features preoperative and postoperative photos, reflecting the charm of this emerging discipline in a real and objective manner, supplemented by concise and clear line diagrams and concise text descriptions for easy understanding.
It is well-known that accumulating photo materials is not an easy task. In the past, although we collected a large number of images, due to insufficient attention to the consistency of preoperative and postoperative shooting conditions, positions, environments, and backgrounds, the comparability of some example photos was not prominent. Additionally, a few black-and-white photos taken in early years had to be retained in the book due to their rarity and the difficulty of replacing them with color photos.
The following points should be noted:
1. We believe that plastic surgery () is a profound and subtle specialized discipline. It not only aims to restore normal facial and body functions but also requires being more beautiful than normal. Therefore, the plastic surgery referred to in this book has a certain broad nature. The photos included in this book primarily feature surgical cases that enhance facial and body beauty. For common plastic surgeries, we have introduced them as detailed as possible.
2. Plastic surgery patients come from both domestic and foreign places. Due to customs and certain limitations, follow-up and long-term postoperative photos are very difficult to obtain. Therefore, most of the photos in the book are of short-term postoperative results, which is indeed a regrettable matter.
3. Some renowned plastic surgery experts from across the country have provided valuable example photos, making the book more complete and comprehensive. Below these photos, we have noted their work units, names, and titles, and we express our heartfelt gratitude.
4. Additionally, doctors Luo Huidong, Ai Minwen, Yang Xiaohui, Liu Tong, Xie Yongxue, Cao Jianping, Wang Jigeng, Wang Lichuan, Wang Yingxiong, Yang Xiujian, Wang Meiheng, Wang Zheng, and Li Shuangfa from the Plastic Surgery Hospital of the National Defense Science and Technology Industry Commission have contributed to providing photo materials. Comrades Shi Yifan and Li Lixia have devoted hard work to organizing the materials. We are also deeply grateful to them.
5. All line diagrams and layout designs in this book were completed by Zhang Bozhi and Yang Qingying, who have nearly 30 years of editing experience. All photo materials and manuscripts were reviewed one by one by Professor Song Ruyao of the Plastic Surgery Hospital of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Professor Kong Fanku of the Center for Reconstructive Surgery Research, the Third Clinical Medical College of Beijing Medical University. We express our profound respect to them.
6. Plastic surgery covers a very broad scope. Despite our great efforts, due to time and regional limitations, the surgical types included in this atlas cannot be exhaustive. The "gaps" will be supplemented in future editions.
