Features: The sixteen topics of this tutorial match the main textbook Practical English Translation for Level 3, divided into sixteen units. The content includes: tourism, ecotourism, economy, history, sports, agriculture, industry, diplomacy, international relations, health, education, culture, environment, environmental protection, and high technology, covering a wide range of subjects and aspects of social life. Each topic features content completely different from the main textbook to expand students' practice materials. Each unit of this tutorial includes two English-to-Chinese and two Chinese-to-English translation exercises, with each exercise ranging from 250 to 300 words to facilitate classroom teaching arrangements and translation reviews. After each exercise, there are provided translations and analyses. Additionally, it includes introductions to English-Chinese and Chinese-English translation techniques, vocabulary expansion, and unit tests. A key feature of this book is the provision of multiple translation options, along with detailed micro-level analyses of the translations. In the process of translation practice and teaching, the authors found that English-to-Chinese translations often suffer from inappropriate word choices and inaccurate understanding of English long sentences, while Chinese-to-English translations present pitfalls at every step, from the omission of a single definite article to disorganized sentence structures and unclear logic. Errors vary widely, and students indeed have many weaknesses in Chinese-to-English translation methods and techniques. To improve students' language skills and translation abilities, the authors have sometimes provided multiple translations in parentheses. Comparing and analyzing different translations helps readers broaden their perspectives and understand the characteristics of Eastern and Western languages, enhancing the flexibility and accuracy of translation. Given that many readers have weaker Chinese-to-English translation skills, this tutorial offers more alternative translations in the Chinese-to-English section. Furthermore, considering that readers preparing for the Level 3 exam have already reached a certain level of English proficiency, the book does not provide detailed explanations of some simple translation techniques but focuses on more challenging areas or those readers are prone to overlook or make mistakes on.
