Features: This book is compiled in accordance with the spirit of the "Interim Regulations on the Translation Professional Qualification (Level) Examination" issued by the National Personnel Department and the requirements of the "Trial Syllabus for the National Translation Professional Qualification (Level) Examination – English Translation (Intermediate Level 3)". It is a comprehensive English textbook for translation (Level 3). The purpose of this book is to systematically enhance students' vocabulary and grammar knowledge, as well as improve their reading and word-meaning differentiation skills through reading and exercises. The book consists of 18 units, with 2 lessons per unit. Each lesson is divided into two main parts: text and exercises. The exercises are divided into five sections: vocabulary, grammar, reading, cloze, and writing. Given that this book is primarily intended for preparing for the Comprehensive English (Level 3) translation examination, the types of exercises, except for the vocabulary exercises related to the text, are basically similar to the exam format to facilitate students in mastering the content and improving their exam-taking skills. The 8 thematic units of the text are composed of 8 major themes: sports and entertainment, tourism, politics, culture, education and health, industry and agriculture, and science. Each unit includes two lessons that revolve around the relevant theme. The post-lesson reading exercises, cloze, and writing are also related to the theme. To help students master the relevant vocabulary, we have also prepared basic vocabulary lists for each theme. Since translation covers a wide range of topics, mastering these basic vocabulary words will be beneficial for students engaging in specific translation activities.
