Features: The Tibet of China, located on the "Roof of the World," is beautiful, mysterious, and captivating. To help friends interested in Tibet understand it better, we have compiled this booklet based on the "Social and Historical Exhibition of Tibet in China" held at the National Museum of Ethnic Culture. It provides a brief introduction to the historical relationship between the Tibet Autonomous Region and the central government, as well as the feudal serfdom society in Tibet before 1959. If this booklet can help answer some of your questions of interest, we will be very happy. Over the long course of historical development, the Tibetan people have created a splendid culture and made outstanding contributions to the formation and development of China's unified multi-ethnic state. The feudal serfdom in Tibet severely hindered the progress and development of Tibetan society. Under the leadership of the Communist Party of China and with the efforts of all the people of Tibet, the feudal serfdom system was abolished in 1959, and Tibet took the path of socialism. In the more than 30 years since then, Tibet has undergone fundamental changes: population growth, development of production, social stability, rapid improvement in people's living standards, and a flourishing and prosperous scene in cultural education, science, and technology.
