Features: As a world-famous historical and cultural ancient capital, Beijing has a city history of over 3,000 years and a capital history of more than 800 years. Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, in order to adapt to the functional requirements of the capital city, Beijing has carried out large-scale urban construction under the care and support of the central government, resulting in significant changes in the city's appearance. In the 20 years of reform and opening-up, especially in recent years, a large number of key urban infrastructure projects have been successively completed, gradually forming a relatively sound and developed three-dimensional transportation system. This has greatly promoted the prosperity and development of various causes in the capital, enabling Beijing to advance towards becoming a modern and international metropolis. To provide a more comprehensive introduction to Beijing and better meet the needs of people's work and life, with the support of the Propaganda Department of the Beijing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, China Map Publishing House has published the "Beijing Map Atlas." This atlas reflects, from one perspective, the urban infrastructure construction, environmental development, tourism development, and new changes in various fields related to people's daily lives in Beijing. It strives to meet the work, study, and travel needs of a broad readership, enabling them to better understand, recognize, and even love our capital city of Beijing. Beijing is constantly advancing and changing, and this development is reflected geographically, but she is also a microcosm of the city's economic, political, cultural, and social progress. What the atlas can reflect is only a corner of this development and change, but we hope that friends from all walks of life at home and abroad can, through this window, not only see the present of Beijing but also look forward to its bright future.
Tianjin is one of China's four central municipalities (Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and Chongqing), the largest coastal open city in northern China, and is renowned as the "Pearl of the Bohai Sea." Tianjin boasts superior geographical location, abundant natural resources, a solid industrial foundation, and a long history of cultural heritage. As the economic center of the Bohai Rim region, Tianjin is a comprehensive industrial base with advanced technology, an open and multi-functional economic center, and a port city. In the future, Tianjin will be developed into a modern port city and an important economic center in northern China.
Located between 38°34′N and 40°15′N latitude and 116°43′E and 118°04′E longitude, Tianjin belongs to the Eastern Time Zone (UTC+8). It is 189 kilometers long from north to south and 117 kilometers wide from east to west, covering a total area of 11,919.7 square kilometers. Tianjin is located on the eastern coast of the Eurasian continent in the middle latitude. It has distinct four seasons and diverse landscapes. Situated in the transitional zone between continental and marine climates, it has a warm-temperate, semi-humid monsoon climate. The main characteristics of its climate are a significant monsoon influence and a large temperature difference between seasons. In winter, northwesterly winds prevail, bringing cold, dry conditions and little precipitation; in summer, southeasterly and southwesterly winds dominate, with high temperatures and concentrated rainfall.
Tianjin's average annual temperature is above 11°C, with an average frost-free period of about 190 days and an average annual precipitation of around 600 millimeters. The average daily sunshine hours range from 2,610 to 3,090 hours.
Tianjin is located in the northeastern part of the North China Plain and the lower reaches of the Hai River Basin, facing the Bohai Sea to the east and backed by the Yan Mountains to the north. It is adjacent to the capital city of Beijing and is the confluence and estuary of the five major tributaries of the Hai River: the Nan Yonghe, Ziya River, Daqing River, Yongding River, and Beiyun River. It is known as the "confluence of nine rivers" and the "key intersection of rivers and seas."
