Publisher:
Publish Date: 2002-07-01
Features: This book collects 70 student essays, divided into nine parts in terms of content. Each part acts as a window, showcasing the profound and rich inner world of Peking University students and their vibrant campus life. At the same time, through these windows, you can see the colorful world outside the ivory tower from the perspective of a Peking University student. The book's features are primarily reflected in the following three aspects:
1. The authors demonstrate remarkable talent. Most of the student authors in this book are from the 2000 science program. However, the artistic thinking and insights, as well as the concerns and hopes for humanity expressed in their writing, far exceed their academic fields, fully showcasing the interdisciplinary qualities of Peking University students who combine humanities and sciences. Enhancing such qualities is precisely the goal that universities today deliberately pursue to meet the needs of future society.
2. The essays are brilliantly written. As first-year university students and non-English majors, they can use English—a non-native language—to brainstorm and create, successfully surpassing the limitations of Chinese and fluently writing essays on various topics, styles, and ideas, with language that demonstrates considerable depth. It is truly remarkable, even the foreign experts involved in reviewing and commenting on the essays were amazed.
3. Foreign teachers personally review the essays. Among the 70 essays, we have specifically selected 14 representative ones for review by foreign teachers. The purpose of this is to allow foreign experts to provide an accurate and objective evaluation of the students' English essays, helping you understand the strengths and weaknesses of Chinese students' English writing from the perspective of non-native English speakers, whether it is recognized by native English speakers, and thereby gaining insights into the essence of English writing.
