Features: Althusser's structuralist Marxism is a counterreaction to the humanist trend in Western Marxism. In his critique of humanism, he articulated highly distinctive epistemological ideas that gained popularity in France and influenced Western countries through postmodern thought. Although this epistemology claims to be based on Marx's mature works, it is in fact a unique Althusserian epistemology established by Althusser when he applied structuralism and the new epistemological principles established by the French School of the History of Science to the study of Marxist theory. The main purpose of this book is to: through comparative research, reveal the dominant logic of Althusser's epistemological thought, identify the rationality and irrationality of Althusser's critique of humanism in Western Marxism at the epistemological level, and provide a directional guide for contemporary Chinese Marxist theoretical research.
