Features: The second volume of "A Course in Chinese Listening Comprehension" is divided into three parts: listening comprehension exercises, extensive listening exercises, and pronunciation and intonation exercises. The listening comprehension exercises include three specific training contents: 1. Listening to sentences and selecting the correct answer; 2. Listening to dialogues and selecting the correct answer; 3. Listening to a dialogue or short passage and completing multiple-choice exercises. The pronunciation section includes: 1. Exercises for distinguishing sounds and tones after listening; 2. Exercises for practicing sentence stress, etc. This volume consists of 30 lessons, including 5 review lessons. The writing order of this volume is as follows: listening exercises come first, followed by the audio transcripts, and finally the vocabulary list. When students enter the second volume, they have already mastered a certain amount of vocabulary and grammar knowledge, and their listening discrimination skills have also been trained. Therefore, in this volume, we focus on listening comprehension as the main training content, with training tasks including the ability to grasp key information, the ability to overcome obstacles, the ability to make associations and guesses, the ability to understand context and pragmatics, the ability to comprehend quickly, and the ability to memorize and store information. The purpose of these training tasks is to comprehensively develop students' listening comprehension skills, help them grasp basic listening techniques, and meet the practical needs of communicative activities. The exercise formats in this book are referenced from the question types of the HSK listening test, so it can also be used as a supplementary textbook for HSK listening comprehension. To help teachers better understand the writing intentions of this volume, we provide the following reference suggestions for using the textbook:
1. Lesson Schedule: Each lesson in this textbook should be studied for two class hours.
2. Listening Requirements: Except for the third item in the listening comprehension exercises [i.e., (3) Listen to the following dialogues or passages and complete the exercises], all other items should be listened to only once in principle. Even for the third item, listening twice is advisable at most, and after the first listening, the corresponding exercises should be completed.
3. Handling New Words: New words in the listening comprehension exercises should be learned before listening to the audio, preferably requiring students to preview them. New words in the extensive listening passages are only for reference and do not need to be learned. Since the purpose of this training is to improve students' ability to overcome obstacles and grasp key information, in addition to the given new words, a certain number of hidden new words are included in the text, which teachers can ignore.
