Features: Images hold a special position in the process of language learning. It is an undeniable fact that they play a crucial role in the acquisition of a mother tongue during one's early years. When learning a second language, they remain an important and indispensable tool. Image-based teaching at least possesses the following characteristics:
As an effective method for developing students' potential memory, image-based teaching helps students directly establish connections between meaning, Chinese characters, and pinyin. This is because images can evoke in students the meaning represented by pronunciation and character forms. More importantly, images can deepen students' memory of the characters and pronunciation they have learned. With the help of images, students can observe and imagine freely, making it easier for them to form logical sentences and passages. Additionally, image arrays can provide a clear context or direction for language use. Lively and interesting cartoon images are particularly effective in stimulating students' interest and enthusiasm for learning Chinese.
Based on the above analysis, when using this textbook, teachers should pay special attention to guiding students. They should start with visual and concrete images to stimulate students' potential memory and encourage them to develop spoken expression through observation and imagination. Teachers should create specific and clear contexts based on the content of the images to help students complete the exercises. Furthermore, in teaching, teachers should adapt to students of different levels, being flexible in their approach. Exercises can be made more complex or simpler, easier or harder. Higher-level students can speak more, while lower-level students can speak less. When engaging in picture description activities, if students find it challenging, the teacher can first restate the content, then ask students to answer questions and imitate the restatement. When encountering unfamiliar grammatical points, teachers need only briefly explain them to help students understand the meaning, without providing extensive grammatical instruction.
