It contains over one million words, dozens of images, and is divided into three volumes and nine parts: "Early Post-War Southeast Asian Studies," "Friendly History of New China and Southeast Asian and Surrounding Countries (1950-1957)," "Burma History Studies," "Southwest Silk Road Studies," "Maritime Silk Road Studies," "South China Sea Silk Road Studies," "East China Sea Silk Road Studies," "Reminiscences of the Past," and "Others." This book holds significant academic value.
The Collected Works include articles written by the author from his youth in 1947 to his later years in 2006, spanning more than half a century and reflecting the tremendous changes and developments in various historical periods over the past 60 years:
1. It first reflects the author's growth process since the War of Resistance against Japan;
2. Southeast Asian (including Burma) studies;
3. Friendly history of New China and Southeast Asian (including Burma) and surrounding countries;
4. After the implementation of the policy in 1979, when Deng Xiaoping proposed the "Open-Up Policy," inspired by the historical Silk Roads that led to the "Han and Tang Golden Ages," the author took a new approach, shifting his research from Burma to the then little-known "Southwest" and "Maritime" Silk Roads. He celebrated China's economic takeoff and prosperous, peaceful era of reform and opening-up since the policy was introduced.
