Features: This book is the third installment of the series on international relations research sponsored by the Institute of World Economy and Politics at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. The theme of this issue is "International Environment and China's Peaceful Development." The authors discuss various aspects around this theme, including China's strategic choices during the transformation of the international system, Asian geopolitics and China's Asian strategy for peaceful development, China's role in Asian geopolitics, the EU's strategic response to China's peaceful development and the development direction of China-EU relations, the impact of non-traditional security on China's path to peaceful development, and how to build cultural affinity between China and its neighboring countries. As one of the features of this book, this issue also selects papers on international relations theory, such as the relevance and complementarity of the three major theories of European integration, the paradigm of international relations in the information age, the relationship between the principle of self-determination and the legitimacy of sovereignty, and the political economy of global energy. Although the research content of these papers varies, their fundamental purpose is to provide meaningful theoretical support and reference for China's peaceful development, contributing to the construction of a China-specific theory of international relations.
