Features: Merchants are social entities that flow with the changes of history. Their activities form a part of the historical and contemporary landscape, one that is ever-changing and unpredictable, to the point where we seem to never be able to fully interpret them or unveil their true nature. Instead, we can only continuously approach them, understand them. This book focuses on the entrepreneurship of merchants, their social status, their customs and culture, and their emotions, providing an invaluable reference for us to get closer to merchants, understand them, and interpret them. Chapter 9 of this book offers a brief portrayal, analysis, and exploration of Chinese merchants. However, the reality of merchants far exceeds what can be covered by nine topics. Originally, the author had listed issues such as "Various Unscrupulous Merchants," "Merchants Who Betrayed Their Country," and "Merchants in the Military Through the Ages," but due to certain considerations, they were not written. Whether there will be an opportunity to continue this work in the future remains to be seen.
