Features: Historical Research is a professional historical journal initiated by the "Committee for Historical Issues of China" under the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. It was first launched in Beijing in February 1954. Comrade Mao Zedong first proposed using the principle of "freedom of thought and debate" to study history when Historical Research was established. Guo Moruo directly led the establishment of the editorial board and the editorial department. Over the past half-century, Historical Research has published approximately 4,000 articles, representing and reflecting the crystallized achievements of several generations of historians in New China. The authors include both renowned historical giants like Guo Moruo, who had already gained fame by the mid-20th century, and emerging scholars who began to make their mark in the new century. This reflects the highest level and evolutionary direction of Chinese historical studies over the past fifty years. Therefore, in terms of the development and evolution of academic history, the fifty years of Historical Research can also be seen as a microcosm of the development of New China's historical scholarship. To this end, we have compiled this series of books to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the launch of Historical Research.
