Publish Date: 2001-08-01
Features: This book not only faithfully records the major historical events that took place in Tibet during the 1950s and 1960s from a local or a specific perspective but also vividly depicts the shining deeds of a large number of heroic figures and advanced groups. This group of brilliant stars, nurtured by the era, was inspired by the spirit of the Chinese nation's rise, the great motherland's unification, and the millions of serfs' struggle for liberation. They united in solidarity, fought and sacrificed, and wrote a glorious chapter in the liberation of Tibet. The troops mentioned in the book are relatively familiar to me, as I was one of them at the time. These troops not only had the glorious traditions of the war years but also, to this day, maintain the "Old Tibet Spirit" forged in the 1950s and 1960s—characterized by "extraordinary endurance, extraordinary fighting spirit, and extraordinary perseverance," with a commitment to long-term construction in Tibet, making the frontier their home, fearlessness of hardship and death, adherence to discipline, and hard work. This book is a magnificent and colorful historical scroll jointly painted by the troops entering Tibet, local workers, and the vast masses of the people in Tibet. The patriotic upper-class figures mentioned in the book include many close friends I met in Tibet during the 1950s and 1960s while working there. They made contributions to Tibet's liberation and construction on different fronts.
