This book is basically divided into 11 regions according to natural zones, combining broad outlines with relatively micro-level studies. Each region explores its agricultural development and changes over the three major stages of the Qin and Han, Six Dynasties, and Sui and Tang dynasties over more than a thousand years, paying attention to revealing the sources and evolution of agricultural development in each region before the Han Dynasty and after the Tang Dynasty, thereby highlighting the trajectory of changes in ancient Chinese agriculture and animal husbandry over more than a thousand years. The middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River were developed regions during the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties, while the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River were rapidly developing regions during the Six Dynasties and Sui and Tang dynasties. The first five chapters of the first volume of this book correspondingly focus on their in-depth examination. The last seven chapters of the second volume discuss the characteristics of agricultural and animal husbandry development in vast regions lagging behind in production between the Han and Tang dynasties. While briefly introducing the production of the multi-ethnic areas surrounding our country, it also analyzes the characteristics of each region and conducts focused discussions with different emphases.
