Publish Date: 2002-02-01
Features: This book is the second volume in a trilogy on primary education written by the renowned Soviet educational innovator III. A. Amosoveli, based on the results of his long-term experiments in education without grades. The book describes the teaching and educational work for the first and second grades of primary school (according to the new system, these would be the second and third grades). In this book, the author emphasizes the following issues: creating a rich and diverse school and extracurricular life for students to promote their personal development; teaching students how to learn, more importantly, stimulating their curiosity, sustained interest in learning, and fostering a love for learning with a proactive attitude; abandoning the practice of simply feeding students with ready-made knowledge and adopting methods that encourage independent exploration and active acquisition of knowledge, guiding them into the "kingdom of thought"; cultivating independence, morality, and general development as the pillars of independence; not discriminating against or abandoning "underachieving" students, but giving them more love and care, awakening their self-esteem and confidence, and helping them overcome shortcomings and defects; every student is unique, so it is necessary to explore different educational methods suitable for different students; teachers must be good at understanding children and caring for their hearts with meticulous attention. Teachers should bring their own childhood into the children's lives, which is the shortest path to their hearts. Teachers should also pay attention to the friendship between boys and girls; regarding moral education and the practice of behavioral norms, the key is to ensure that students practice what they preach and act consistently with their words.
