Features: Researching the difficulties mentioned above in the Daojiao Yishu would generally encounter various challenges. Now, Comrade Wang Zongyu has overcome these difficulties and conducted a relatively systematic study of the Daojiao Yishu, which is highly meaningful. First, based on previous research, Wang Zongyu provided a collation and annotation of the Daojiao Yishu, giving us a reliable text to work with. Second, he analyzed this work from three aspects—“Dao Body Theory,” “Dao Canon Theory,” and “Dao Cultivation Theory,” providing us with a foundation for grasping the basic content of the Daojiao Yishu. Third, Comrade Wang Zongyu examined this book in the context of the early Tang Dynasty, allowing us to roughly understand the development trajectory of Daoism from the Southern and Northern Dynasties to the early Tang. A thorough analysis of a book should be encouraged, as this is the only way to push research deeper. It is hoped that through this study, the influence of Buddhism on early Tang Daoism can be clarified, enabling us to understand the direction of academic, ideological, and cultural trends at the time. The Daojiao Yishu has absorbed a large amount of Buddhist thought both theoretically and in cultivation methods, and many subsequent Daoist texts face similar issues. If the Daojiao Yishu is taken as a typical case for analysis, I believe it will hold significance for advancing the study of the relationship between Buddhism and Daoism.
