Features: To popularize ancient cultural knowledge and help readers understand Confucius and his teachings, absorb their beneficial elements, and better inherit and promote the fine traditions of Chinese culture, this book "The Subtle Sayings of Laozi and Zhuangzi" has been compiled. "Subtle Sayings" generally refer to profound, exquisite, and enduring language that leaves a deep impression, such as maxims, admonitions, concise arguments, and beautiful phrases. However, the "subtle sayings" in this book go beyond this scope. In addition to the above, they also include materials that are progressive in thought, healthy in content, full of wit, and of significant intellectual and cultural value, which have had a major impact in history. We hope to introduce the essence of Laozi and Zhuangzi to everyone in this broad form of subtle sayings. The book first lists the original text, followed by "General Meaning of the Original" and "Commentary." In the "General Meaning of the Original," relevant background, event materials, and explanatory and interpretive text are included in the translation. During the selection process, the original text mainly referred to the "Annotations on Laozi" and "Collected Explanations of Zhuangzi" from Zhuzi Jicheng (The Collected Works of the Masters) published by Zhonghua Book Company, and other annotated and translated versions were also referenced.
