Features: The International Weekly grew from nothing to become beloved by readers quickly, thanks to the excellent overseas reporting team of People's Daily. In three years, we bid farewell to four overseas correspondents who passed away young due to overwork. While editing this collection, seeing their familiar names and remembering their vivid faces filled my eyes with tears. I believe that the publication of the International Weekly in a collection is not only to meet the needs of a broad readership but also to showcase the work of overseas correspondents and serve as a memorial to those who have passed away. – Ma Xiaoning, Host of the International Weekly and Deputy Editor of this book
The two World Wars experienced by humanity in the 20th century both brought to mind Kosovo. Little Kosovo, interwoven with complex ethnic, religious, and territorial conflicts and the interests of major powers, became the stage for a war of starkly unequal forces in the spring of the last day of the 20th century. Some scholars argued that NATO's bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia seemed to herald the arrival of the 21st century. Yet, as the century draws to a close, time remains elusive. As the century fades away, the "Turbulent Century" column published by the International Weekly adopts a picture-and-word format to briefly document the major historical events of the 20th century, sketching out the broad contours of the century.
