Features: In the struggle of the soul, the Heroic Symphony and the Appassionata Sonata successfully burst forth. Anyone who can gain a general understanding of them will be profoundly impressed. It is not an army of thousands, nor the rushing, charging tide of music, but the soul that descends upon the celestial harmony, the imperial-like rationality. He often falls into deep thought amidst the hustle and bustle, completely oblivious to external matters, and finds immense joy and delight in it. Gradually, contemplation became Beethoven's spiritual harbor. In his moments of reflection, he used his passion to nurture a series of vivid and individualistic spirits, creating immortal music.
Beethoven (1770–1827) was born in Bonn and began learning the piano from a young age. In 1787, he traveled to Vienna to study composition with Haydn and met Mozart. Beethoven lived during the time of the French Revolution, the Napoleonic Wars, and the Vienna System, when European democracy and national consciousness were on the rise. His works reflected the characteristics of these eras, either celebrating heroes, opposing feudalism, or striving for democracy, freedom, and a better future. His main works include the Moonlight Sonata, the Fate Symphony (also known as the Fifth Symphony), the Choral Symphony (also known as the Ninth Symphony), and more.
Beethoven's later years were filled with sorrow, and he died in poverty and illness. However, the people never forgot him. On March 29, 1827, over two thousand people attended his funeral procession. Beethoven's most important contribution to music was the symphony, earning him the title of the "King of Symphonies."
