Features: Grieg (Edvard Grieg, 1843-1907), a Norwegian composer. The Norwegian National Music School has been one of the most renowned composers in Europe since the mid-19th century. He began composing at the age of 9 and graduated from the Leipzig Conservatory in 1862. In his musical compositions, he integrated Western European musical techniques with the harmonic characteristics of the 19th-century Romanticists Chopin, Schumann, Wagner, and others, blending them with Norwegian folk music to create a unique Nordic musical style. The melody of "Solveig" in his musical score for Ibsen's poetic drama Peer Gynt has a close kinship with Norwegian folk songs. As a lyrical poet among musicians, Grieg was known as the "Norwegian Chopin."
