What is pediatric hepatoblastoma?

Patient's question:

CT shows a huge, irregular, multinodular mass measuring 9.57.19.9 in the right liver, involving the left inner lobe with heterogeneous internal density. Multiple lymph nodes are present in the porta hepatis and paraaortic region, some of which are enlarged. No fluid is observed in the abdominal and pelvic cavities. The diagnosis is advanced hepatoblastoma.

Doctor's answer:

Surgical resection is the preferred treatment. High-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) is a new method for treating unresectable hepatoblastoma in the first stage. Utilizing the physical properties of ultrasound, such as visibility, tissue penetration, and focus, it directly damages deep-seated tumors in the body through the effects of ultrasound heating, mechanical effects, and cavitation effects, with minimal impact on adjacent normal tissues. It offers accurate positioning, non-invasive "resection," no radiation pollution, and significant therapeutic efficacy.
