Features: Introduction This book collects fourteen essays, which are part of the achievements of the Ministry of Education's "University Academic Excellence Development Plan" and National Taiwan University's "Research on the Interpretive Tradition of Chinese Cultural Classics." Based on their nature, they can be divided into three groups: "Theory and Background," "Pre-Qin Confucianism and Classical Interpretation," and "Traditional Confucian Interpretive Methods and Their Modern Turning Point." The first group consists of five essays, all of which are reflections on classical interpretation, either examining the assumptions and issues of its methodology or exploring the intellectual historical background. The second group has three essays, all involving the classical interpretation of Pre-Qin Confucianism. The third group has six essays, all concerning the interpretive methods of Confucians from the Song, Ming, and modern periods. This book cannot fully cover the methodological aspects of Confucian classical interpretation, but its publication can be seen as laying a foundation for this field, with the hope that the entire academic community will work together.
