Zunyi Chishui Danxia

Guizhou Chishui Danxia National Geopark is located in Chishui City, Guizhou Province, on the southern margin of the Sichuan Basin, close to the northern foot of the Dalou Mountains in northern Guizhou, and in the western part of the Yangtze Paraplatform, covering an area of more than 1,200 square kilometers. As the largest representative of early youth danxia landforms in China, the park includes core landscapes such as the Chishui Alsophila National Nature Reserve, the Bamboo Sea National Forest Park, and the core area of the National Nature Reserve for Rare and Endemic Fishes in the Upper Yangtze River.

The park's landforms formed on the basis of Cretaceous red beds and, through river incision, developed typical danxia forms such as gorges and cliffs, with a relative elevation difference of nearly 1,500 meters. It is home to 1,964 species of vascular plants and 404 species of vertebrates. Scenic spots in the park, such as Foguang Rock and the Great Waterfall, are known for their danxia cliffs and waterfall groups. The average annual temperature is 18.1°C, and the climate is subtropical monsoon. The park contains 64 geological heritage sites, preserving danxia landforms formed during the Cretaceous period as well as endangered plants such as alsophila. The park is divided into eastern and western sections. The eastern section is dominated by plateau and gorge landscapes, while the western section retains plateau surface features, presenting a contrasting landform of interlaced gorges and plateaus.

In 2010, the park, together with Taining in Fujian, Danxia Mountain in Guangdong, and others, was inscribed on the World Natural Heritage List as part of "China Danxia." In December 2020, it was rated as a National 5A-level Tourist Attraction. In 2022, it was selected as one of the first top ten wine-and-tourism integrated scenic areas in Guizhou Province. In 2024, it launched a Classic of Mountains and Seas Chinese-style parade event.
