Features: Since 1989, the National Association of College Journals in Humanities has successively compiled and published several collections of papers on editing theory. These collections reflect the research achievements of our members in the theory and practice of journal editing from different perspectives, holding certain theoretical significance and practical value. They have attracted attention from the editing community and have had a positive impact. In November 1996, the National Association of College Journals in Humanities held its third member (General Assembly) and academic seminar in Wuhan. The conference received nearly 80 papers submitted by participants. We selected a portion of these papers to compile this collection titled "Journal Editing and Editing Theory." This collection covers a wide range of topics and is rich in content, including research on basic editing theory and discussions on the history of editing. It also demonstrates significant progress in the study of journal editing as a specialized field within editing theory. We have organized these papers into four categories: On Editing Theory, On Editing and Editing Work, On Journal Editing Theory, and Research on the History of Editing. This collection does not merely stay at the level of theoretical interpretation but delves deeper into the theoretical issues of journal editing and editing theory, thus possessing a strong academic flavor and high theoretical value. The papers collected in this book present various academic perspectives and research methods, fully reflecting the spirit of the resolution of the 14th Plenary Session of the 6th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, upholding the principle of freedom of thought and expression, promoting a rigorous and scientific academic atmosphere, and encouraging the exchange of different academic viewpoints. These papers reflect the deep concern and passion of our editing colleagues for journal work, their broad interest in the study of editing theory, and the collective efforts of our editing colleagues. Some papers were presented and discussed at the conference, further promoting the development of editing research. From this collection, it can also be seen that under the organization and (promotion) of the National Association of College Journals in Humanities, the issues studied by journal colleagues have become increasingly diverse, and the content of their research has become increasingly rich, showcasing the high academic literacy and research capabilities of journal editors.
