Features: This revised edition (2nd edition) was published and distributed in June 1993 and has been printed three times since then, in August 1995, April 1996, and March 1998. This teaching material is the result of decades of teaching and research practices by several generations of teachers in plant science at our institution. Through repeated revisions and refinements, its quality has continuously improved, making it one of the main experimental teaching books in higher education institutions in China, with cumulative sales exceeding 50,000 copies. It remains a key laboratory guide or reference book for students and young teachers in relevant institutions. Additionally, it serves as one of the primary reference books for scientific and technological workers in agriculture, forestry, traditional Chinese medicine, and related fields, supporting talent training, technological development, hybrid breeding, and scientific production. Since the reform and opening-up, China's education, teaching, and science and technology have developed rapidly, and the existing plant science system faces institutional and comprehensive reforms. Therefore, the original plant science textbooks, especially those for experimental guidance, should undergo significant revisions. However, due to existing conditions and the immaturity of institutional reforms, only further revisions based on the original foundation are possible. This revision incorporates recent research findings and utilizes modern microscopic photography techniques to capture colorful images of plant anatomy, showcasing the rich microscopic world of plant structures. This enhances the visuality, realism, and scientific accuracy of the textbook illustrations, stimulating students' enthusiasm for mastering this fundamental subject, improving their self-learning and analytical abilities. With broadened horizons, it also provides students with the opportunity to deeply understand the key, difficult, and creative aspects of teaching theory, while emphasizing the cultivation of comprehensive qualities in talent.
