Publish Date: 2006-12-01
Features: The preface of "A Brief Catalogue of the Siku Quanshu · Sixty-One Poetic Discourses" states: "Poetic discourses flourished in the Song Dynasty, and among those passed down to this day, the compilation of this work is the oldest." After "Sixty-One Poetic Discourses," a large number of poetic discourse works emerged, with over 100 surviving Song Dynasty poetic discourses. "The Complete Collection of Song Dynasty Poetic Discourses" compiles the essence of Song Dynasty poetic discourses, including 562 authors from the Song Dynasty, of which over 170 have been published as standalone books, while nearly 400 authors without existing poetic discourse collections are also included. This book is a large-scale publication that gathers the most comprehensive materials on Song Dynasty poetic discourses.
The book is organized by author, including not only those poetic discourses that were already published as standalone works but also widely collected discussions on poetry scattered across poetic discourse collections, essays, historical books, and classified compendia. For the published poetic discourses, besides selecting good copies for annotation, the main text remains in its original form without. The poetic discourses collected from essays, historical books, classified compendia, etc., primarily focus on poetic theory, critical reviews of poetic creation, and discussions on poetic methods; anecdotes and philosophical discussions about poets, textual research on important poems, and explanations of key terms are also selectively included.
All poetic discourses included in the book are presented in plain text, with each excerpt annotated with its source, including the book title, volume number, and chapter name. The poetic discourses listed in the book are arranged in chronological order by author and year.
