Features: The development of poetic discussions reached a new era, forming the second peak in the history of Chinese poetic discussions after the Song Dynasty's poetic discussions. Not only was the number of discussions abundant, but the scope was also extensive, with many previous theoretical issues on poetry being explored in depth. During this period, the "General Catalogue of the Siku Quanshu" recorded forty works, and the "Comprehensive Catalogue of Chinese Series" recorded fifty-eight works, though both were far from complete. At the time of the book's compilation, there were seven hundred and twenty-two works on poetic discussions, including over one hundred that were already published separately. While this number still cannot be considered entirely complete, all the original works that could be gathered with effort have been organized and included in this book.
This volume includes newly compiled scattered poetic discussions of Ming Dynasty scholars, comprising over six million words, accounting for about three-quarters of the entire book. Six hundred authors, who previously had no compiled works on poetic discussions, now have their discussions collected; over one hundred authors, who previously had published works on poetic discussions, have their writings supplemented with scattered discussions, making their poetic theoretical works more complete.
