Shangri-La Potatso National Park

Located in Hongpo Village, Jiantang Town, Shangri-La City, within the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yunnan Province, Potatso National Park sits at the heart of the "Three Parallel Rivers" UNESCO World Heritage Site in northwest Yunnan. It is situated 22 kilometers from the urban area and covers a total area of 1,313 square kilometers. The park's elevation ranges from a minimum of 2,347 meters to a maximum of 4,670 meters, featuring geological landscapes such as fault cliffs and deep gorges, alongside ecosystems that include primeval forests, alpine meadows, and wetland lakes.

The park consists of the Bita Hai Nature Reserve and the Shudu Lake Scenic Area, with core attractions including Bita Hai (Bita Lake), Shudu Lake, and the Militang Alpine Meadow. Shudu Lake is a Wetland of International Importance with vast waters that serve as a habitat for the Shudu schizothoracin fish and various bird species. Bita Hai preserves the pristine ecology of a plateau lake wetland and is the habitat of the Zhongdian schizothoracin. The park has an average annual temperature of 5.4°C, with vegetation dominated by Abies georgei (George's fir). It is home to 74 recorded species of mammals and 297 species of birds, including the high-altitude water fern (Isoetes alpina), a national first-class protected plant.

In 2012, it was rated as a National 5A-level Tourist Attraction, and in 2022, it was selected for the Top 100 List of AAAAA-level Scenic Spot Brand Influence. The park has implemented a community co-construction mechanism by establishing ecological conservation positions and providing tourism feedback funds, creating a synergistic model of conservation and development.
