Is a hemangioma dangerous?

Patient's question:

I recently noticed a large lump on the back of my elbow, which is quite disgusting. I can see tiny blood vessels. Then my mom took me to the hospital for a check-up, and the doctor said it's angiosarcoma. I'm very scared. Does angiosarcoma cause death? How is it treated?

Doctor's answer:

A hemangioma is a benign tumor and also a vascular malformation. This tumor is not very dangerous. Generally, if the tumor does not have obvious symptoms and is relatively small in scope, it can be continuously monitored. However, if it grows relatively significantly, most of them require treatment. Generally, the surgical treatment of hemangiomas is mainly through surgery, and laser, cryotherapy, or local drug injection can also be considered for treatment.
