Features: The population studied in this book mainly refers to the special group of modern university teachers in China. The book takes the establishment of the Imperial Capital College in 1898 as the starting point of its research, focusing on the following issues: First, the reasons for the mobility of modern university teachers; second, the mechanisms of mobility; third, the impact of teachers' mobility on the composition of modern university teachers and the influence on modern university education. The book attempts to break away from the linear research approach of solely following a chronological order, striving to combine horizontal classification with vertical threads to study the mobility of university teachers and modern Chinese university education. It primarily draws on population migration theories from demography and combines sociological group research with case studies. Two theoretical assumptions are proposed: Assumption 1: The free mobility of modern university teachers promotes the display of individual talent, maintains academic vitality among university teachers, facilitates complementary advantages, and fosters the creation of new academic fields. Assumption 2: Unlike free mobility, university teacher mobility driven by external pressure has largely negative effects, especially the destructive impact of factors such as war and political persecution on modern Chinese university education.
