Features: Zhou Guoping was born in 1945 and is currently a researcher at the Institute of Philosophy, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. His field is philosophy, and he has made significant contributions to the study of Nietzsche's thought and the translation of his works. However, his influence is not limited to academia. He combines philosophy and literature, writing not only academic works but also a large volume of philosophical essays. Among various social strata, particularly among young students and intellectuals, his works have many devoted readers. Despite this, Zhou Guoping has not become a public figure. As a scholar, he is content with solitude and has long refused interviews and publicity from the media. He insists that writers should speak only through their works. In an era where cultural products and their production processes are increasingly commercialized, the fact that the works of such a serious author can still penetrate people's hearts and gain the spontaneous affection of numerous readers is worth reflecting on. Combining philosophy and literature, integrating reason and emotion, is a distinctive feature of Zhou Guoping's works. His philosophical treatises shimmer with poetic brilliance, while his literary essays radiate philosophical wisdom. Most of his works are free from academic dryness and do not pursue artistic novelty; they are written in a simple and straightforward style, expressing insights that ordinary people can understand. This is undoubtedly one reason for their popularity. However, the more important reason may lie in the fact that his works are permeated with serious reflections on major life issues and close attention to the spiritual lives of modern people, resonating with the discerning minds of our time. In the face of the overwhelming secular tide, Zhou Guoping positions himself as a guardian, protecting the eternal spiritual values of life and observing the general direction of human spiritual life. During this period of social transformation, no matter how declining the moral climate may be, the human spirit still retains an irrepressible potential for upward growth. There will always be those who value spiritual life more than material life, silently seeking the true meaning of existence and caring about the future of humanity. It is easy to imagine that they form Zhou Guoping's relatively stable but limited readership. We do not believe that his works will sell exceptionally well, but we are confident that they possess enduring vitality and will continue to be read and appreciated by new generations. Based on this understanding, we have decided to publish the "Collected Works of Zhou Guoping." We hope to provide readers who love and are to collect or study Zhou Guoping's works with a complete edition, and to preserve a valuable cultural and spiritual legacy for our time. The collected works include the writings of Zhou Guoping written before the end of 1995, which were originally published in five volumes in 1996 and supplemented with a sixth volume in 2002. For this publication, the works are divided into three volumes. The first volume consists of reflections and essays, the second volume includes essays, works, and poems, and the third volume contains academic treatises.
