Features: The New Higher Education: A Multidisciplinary Approach proposes a new vision for higher education research, adopting a multidisciplinary and comparative perspective to study higher education. This helps broaden our understanding of higher education and deepen our awareness of it, from which we can draw valuable experiences for conducting higher education research and advancing higher education reforms in China. This is reflected not only in research methods but also particularly in the knowledge structure of the research team. Specifically, those currently engaged in higher education research, in addition to their education-related expertise, should consider studying one or two social sciences, such as economics, sociology, or organizational theory. Of course, some of the author's viewpoints require us to approach them dialectically. Currently, a discipline branch and society have been established in educational economics, while educational sociology is still under development and in the process of being established. As for how organizational theory can be applied to higher education research, it remains largely unexplored, and we will introduce relevant developments gradually.
