Features: The subject Olympiad for primary and secondary schools (briefly referred to as the subject Olympiad) is a comprehensive, widely participated, and highly influential competition activity for primary and secondary school students in China. The subject Olympiad draws inspiration from and extends the concept of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), the International Physics Olympiad (IPHO), the International Chemistry Olympiad (ICHO), and other internationally influential subject competitions for secondary school students, which attract millions of young students every year. The reason for such widespread attention lies in the Olympiad's strong innovation, flexibility, comprehensiveness, and emphasis on cultivating students' exploration skills and inspiring their innovative awareness, which are precisely the core elements of quality education. This is also the need for future development. Based on years of careful study of this activity both domestically and internationally, as well as a large number of outstanding books in this category, the Editorial Department of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited outstanding educators dedicated to this field from all over the country to compile and publish a series of Olympiad books, including "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School," covering seven subjects—mathematics, Chinese, English, physics, chemistry, biology, and informatics—with over 200 varieties. In terms of the variety, quantity, and quality of our Olympiad books, we are considered the most influential in our domestic and international peers and hold the greatest charm in the hearts of primary and secondary school teachers and students. The compilation purpose and characteristics of the "Gold Medal Olympiad" and "Gold Medal School" series are as follows:
1. High: Derived from the curriculum but exceeding it. Derived from the curriculum means compiling in accordance with the new [curriculum standards] of the Ministry of Education; exceeding the curriculum means closely aligning with the competition syllabi of various levels, ensuring comprehensive alignment in content, question types, and skill requirements, thereby fostering interest, developing intelligence, and enhancing abilities.
2. Accurate: Scientifically precise and well-structured. Each book is designed according to the characteristics of the subject, scientifically organized, and follows a step-by-step approach, providing in-depth yet accessible analysis and comprehensive teaching of problem-solving methods.
3. Innovative: The questions selected are novel, unique, and engaging. They gather the essence of recent Olympiad, middle school, and high school exam questions from both domestically and internationally, representing the highest level of current Olympiad standards and reflecting new concepts in curriculum reform, as well as new ideas, methods, and trends in competition question-setting.
4. Selective: Carefully chosen examples are challenging yet not obscure, flexible yet achievable. The focus is on generalization and transferability; multiple solutions, variations, and extensions of a single problem are emphasized. Emphasis is placed on training thinking skills rather than rote memorization, making learning an interest and hobby.
5. Renowned: Gathered by famous teachers and collected from prestigious competitions. The Editorial Department of the Subject Olympiad for Primary and Secondary Schools has invited renowned professors from prestigious universities, special-grade teachers, senior teachers, subject leaders, and famous Olympiad gold medal coaches to jointly compile these books.
