Features: Children's book illustrations, as the name implies, are pictures in children's books and magazines. In the Western world, artists who draw illustrations for books and other publications are called "Illustrators," and the term "Illustration" is defined as "illustrations, images, and charts that explain the content of text, enhance the visual sense of the text, and contribute to the artistic atmosphere of the book." According to the Modern Chinese Dictionary, illustrations are "pictures inserted between text to help explain its content, including both scientific and artistic ones." The content of children's books is composed of both illustrations and text. Most children's books are dominated by illustrations, with text used to complement and explain the illustrations. Some children's books feature illustrations and text working together in harmony, where the content expressed by each does not overlap—each tells its own part but conveys the same theme. In text-based children's books, illustrations also hold independent aesthetic significance.
