Features: Based on the "National Environmental Security Strategy Research Report" by the State Environmental Protection Administration, the China Environmental Planning & Research Institute, the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, and the National Environmental Monitoring Center undertook the sub-project "Research on National Environmental Security Assessment System" under the National Social Public Welfare Research Special Fund Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2003. This book is a comprehensive reflection of the research results of this project. The study suggests strengthening data collection efforts, making environmental security assessments long-term and institutionalized, conducting periodic analysis and comparison, including interregional comparisons, to institutionalize the assessment process. It recommends following the bluebook model to regularly report and publish national environmental security assessment reports, promptly identifying trends and existing issues in national environmental security, and proposing policy recommendations for environmental security management. Based on the analysis of environmental security assessments, the study concludes that the current national environmental security strategy can be briefly summarized as "overall control, focus on improvement, strict prevention of disasters, and ensuring security." This requires establishing a comprehensive and coordinated environmental security management system and adopting strategic countermeasures to safeguard national environmental security, such as formulating national sustainable development policies, establishing investment and financing mechanisms for environmental security construction, encouraging public participation in environmental security initiatives, and building a national environmental security external support system.
