After the Cold War, the world is a place where various ideologies clash. The Western academic world has also seen some new trends. In this context, contemporary China is in the process of transitioning to a socialist market economy and is inevitably influenced by these trends. However, the concepts proposed by Western scholars out of their "preoccupation with novelty" may not align with the meaning in the current linguistic context of China. Therefore, the primary issue is to clarify the semantics, analyze the presuppositions, and seek genuine dialogue. To this end, the editorial board of "Public Forum" and the Beijing Tianze Economic Research Institute jointly held an academic symposium on "Economic Democracy and Economic Freedom." Here, we select some of the presentations from the conference for reference for readers interested in this issue.
