Statistical Principles

Features: Before writing this book, there were already various textbooks on the market claiming to be suitable for higher vocational and technical colleges. After reviewing these textbooks, we found that each had its own strengths, but we also felt there were some shortcomings. Without a doubt, some were too simple and could not meet the statistical knowledge requirements of students majoring in economics at higher vocational and technical colleges; others were somewhat challenging, essentially condensed versions of undergraduate textbooks, and some even included content on hypothesis testing, which was clearly unacceptable for students with relatively weak mathematical knowledge in higher vocational and technical education. In light of this, writing a textbook that could meet both of these requirements became our attempt. All the authors engaged in extensive and in-depth discussions and made multiple revisions, striving to fully reflect the principles of: introducing concepts through examples, making the content accessible yet profound, concise and practical, and using up-to-date materials. Additionally, to fully demonstrate the application-oriented feature, we also included a chapter on "The Application of Statistics in Business Operations," which is commonly lacking in existing similar textbooks. This book can be used as a teaching material for economics majors in higher vocational and technical colleges, as well as a learning, training, and reference book for a wide range of practitioners.
