Features: At the time of the publication of this "" series, as editors, we have much to say to our readers. As the saying goes, "mathematics is a gymnastic for the mind" and "a game for the clever." Without a doubt, various mathematical competitions—ranging from the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) to regional events—have nurtured countless students and teachers. Extracurricular mathematical activities play an indispensable role in inspiring interest in learning mathematics and enhancing problem-solving skills, especially in China's basic education system. It is precisely for this reason that, over the past few decades, mathematical extracurricular activities, including mathematical competitions, have been widely welcomed and supported by students, teachers, and parents. It is well known that the problems in these competitions are mostly crafted by experts and experienced teachers with specialized knowledge. Therefore, in terms of quality, whether in depth or flexibility of solutions, they far surpass the problems students typically encounter daily.
With the aim of "selecting the best from the best," "generalizing from specific examples," and "making it both searchable and solvable," we have thoroughly processed the carefully selected problems, striving to make this book both "practical" and "sufficiently comprehensive." Beyond the meticulous selection of problems, in terms of solutions, we provide as many practical approaches as possible for typical problems to help readers broaden their thinking; for more challenging problems, we offer original solutions, starting from the entry point, to clarify the source of the reasoning and thereby achieve the effect of "generalizing from specific examples." We place particular emphasis on teaching readers correct thinking methods rather than overwhelming them with advanced concepts, enabling them to truly improve. Most of the editors of this book are young, some of whom are newly employed young teachers, while the majority are postgraduate students at Tsinghua, Peking, or the Chinese Academy of Sciences. However, there is one thing we believe readers can trust: almost all of us have been trained in major olympiad competitions since childhood (we include winners of elementary school olympiads, the "I Love Mathematics" summer camp, the Hua Luogeng Gold Cup, the Hope Cup, the Spring Festival Cup, the Junior High School Mathematics League, the High School Mathematics League, the High School Mathematics Winter Camp, and even IMO gold medals). Today, we stand on the olympiad lecture platform, combining our personal experiences to engage in various olympiad training.
