Features: Design is a highly versatile profession that can change people's mindset and alter living environments; it is also a means to bring beautiful dreams to life. Industrial design integrates knowledge from various fields such as technology, art, and society to meet the needs of modern life and work. Design representation is a component of industrial design education, but representation itself is not the goal. Instead, it serves as a means to express the designer's innovative concepts, facilitating communication of design ideas and enabling easier evaluation of designs. The purpose of this book is to make it accessible and easy to understand, with essential theoretical sections written as concisely as possible. Readers are encouraged to grasp the rules of design representation techniques while enjoying the reading experience. The views and illustrative student works mentioned in the book are the result of years of teaching practice and experience. Here, all the students are from STEM fields, and most have not received formal training in drawing skills, resulting in limited design representation abilities and significant constraints in design communication. However, through learning, they have mastered design representation techniques, enabling their creative ideas to be expressed effectively. For designers with some drawing skills, understanding the characteristics of design representation techniques can further enhance their ability to convey design language. On the surface, design representation techniques may resemble painting, but their purposes are entirely different. Painting expresses the subjective inner feelings of the artist, a form of free art within the realm of spiritual products. In contrast, product design representation techniques convey the designer's creative concepts, present perspective views based on principles of perspective, and showcase the stylistic language of product design.
