Features: "Discussions on Modern Famous Writers from Zhangzhou," was compiled under this background. A small portion of the selections includes academic papers previously published by teachers of Zhangzhou Normal University in newspapers and magazines, while the majority were selected from the papers presented at this symposium. This discipline has already formed a well-structured team of higher-level teaching and research talents in terms of academic background, age, and knowledge structure. In recent years, dozens of academic papers have been published in journals such as Social Sciences in China and Studies of Modern Chinese Literature, and more than ten research projects have been supported by the People's Literature Publishing House, the National Social Science Fund of China, and provincial and ministerial-level projects. Although this book only showcases a part of the achievements of this discipline in researching modern famous writers from Zhangzhou, it can also give a glimpse of the discipline's overall.
Literature conveys human feelings and experiences. Different people have different feelings and experiences, and even people who are similar may have different feelings and experiences in different circumstances. If everyone's feelings and experiences were the same, there would be no need for communication, no need for literature. Therefore, simply distinguishing between advanced and conservative literature, modern and non-modern literature, revolutionary and counter-revolutionary literature, and using such distinctions as criteria for literary criticism and research, is meaningless.
