Features: The contents of the Uyghur script purchase and sale contracts are very rich, mainly divided into two categories: land purchase and sale contracts and human purchase and sale contracts. Although the objects of purchase and sale in the two types of contracts are different, the formats and phrases of the wording are similar. For example, the basic structure of the content is: date; description of the purchase and sale matter [reason for purchase and sale, object of purchase and sale (land purchase and sale contracts require a description of the four boundaries of the land being sold, and human purchase and sale contracts require a description of the gender, age, and identity of the person being sold)]; the price of the object of purchase and sale and the payment and receipt situations of the two parties involved in the sale; confirmation phrases of the buyer's rights; the seller's commitment to breach of contract; the signatures and seals, and fingerprints of the seller and witnesses; the signature of the scribe. The author has interpreted and annotated a large number of ancient Uyghur script purchase and sale contracts unearthed in western China, which have important reference value and significance for the study of ethnic history, culture, and cultural exchange in western China.
