Fiction for the masses

Publisher:
Publish Date: 2006-12-01
Features: This book collects sixty-one essays written by the author from January to November 1934, published by Shanghai Lianhua Bookstore in June 1936. It was reprinted in August of the same year. The author published two editions during his lifetime. Lu Xun often wrote short critiques, which began with contributions to the "Free Talk" column of the Shanghai Daily. A collection of his works from 1933 included The False Freedom Book and The Wind and Moon Talks. Later, the editor Mr. Li Liewen was squeezed out so hard that by the following year, he was finally forced out. Lu Xun then changed his approach, adopted different pen names, and had others copy his works to submit them. The new editors, unable to discern them closely, still frequently published them. At the same time, he expanded his scope, occasionally writing similar pieces for the supplement Dynamics of the China Daily and the bimonthly Taibai. These collected works from 1934 form this book, Floral Edge Literature.
